The Fiber Society

Fall 2020 Conference

Dear Fiber Society Members,

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to negatively affect our world communities, we find ourselves in the regrettable position of having to cancel The Fiber Society’s Fall 2020 Conference, scheduled for October 19-21 at Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. The continually evolving and unpredictable nature of the coronavirus seriously impacts our plans and hopes for future conferences. We will keep you informed regarding our 2021 conferences with timely posts on our website, our social media pages (Facebook and LinkedIn), and other avenues deemed appropriate.

Undoubtedly, life will return to “normal,” but we can only wait until that time arrives. We remain hopeful that we will meet next spring in Leuven, Belgium, at the College de Valk. We remain hopeful that we will once again meet as colleagues and friends to renew our relationships, professionally and personally.

The Fiber Society Officers and Governing Council send best wishes to our members and colleagues around the world as we navigate these unprecedented times together. Please stay safe and well!

Takeshi Kikutani, President
The Fiber Society

Dear Fiber Society Members, Colleagues, and Friends--

We hope this message finds all of you well and weathering the ongoing pandemic as best you can.  Covid-19 has disrupted virtually every aspect of our lives this year, including a shut-down of Fiber Society's annual conference activities.  Essentially, 2020 has been a "non-year" for FS and our officers and GC have not had an opportunity to fulfill their offices.

Because of those circumstances--and because we will not have our 2020 annual Business Meeting later this month in which to conduct elections--it has been decided that all offices, both elected and appointed, will simply carry over to 2021.  The rosters will remain as follows:

President:  Takeshi Kikutani
Vice President:  Caroline Schauer
Immediate Past President:  RenĂ© Rossi
Treasurer:  Ian Hardin
Secretary:  Janice R. Gerde

Governing Council
Yordan Kyosev
Sergiy Minko

Emilie Drean
Meifang Zhu

David Seveno
Xiangwu Zhang

We believe this is the simplest, most direct solution to a situation that never could have been anticipated.  Please continue to monitor our website and our two social media sites (Facebook and LinkedIn) for updates about our 2021 activites.

Best Regards to All

The Fiber Society's  Officers and Governing Council
